Branding

Shopizer

Ecommerce is evolving rapidly. The idea of headless ecommerce is to provide major online retailers with more flexibility and options for the customer experience. Shopizer is especially interesting because it is an open source headless ecommerce platform. Merton Way helped the founder refine the business model to be more self-sustaining, then re-brand and build a new website that appeals to leading edge developers.

The Ask

Ecommerce is going headless. Headless means you want a platform that is modular and open to integrations. Shopizer is the greatest story never told in ecommerce.

Born of one developer’s passion for open source and ecommerce systems, this brand is both.

Merton Way’s task? Differentiate a brand built by developers for developers. Show and tell how bold and leading edge Shopizer truly is.

The Work

Preserving the essence of the original logo, Merton Way re-cast the overall spirit of Shopizer to appeal to ecomm developers. These are very special specialists: smart, quirky, savvy to both business and design.

The new brand guidelines get fully expressed in the website. Built with Webflow, Shopizer.com speaks to developers on their terms in a design realm that mashes Lichtentstein art with everyday people doing the impossible…Building headless ecommerce applications in a fast-moving industry.

The Win

The new brand and website increased downloads from Github within days of re-launching. The agency’s site came pre-loaded with search engine optimization: copy was based on keywords, and images, tags, and page descriptions were good to go on Day 1.

How did the agency move the cheese from bland to bold? Because its client, Shopizer, dared to re-define itself and focus on the personas of its customers. Buzz is everything in this niche. The client’s openness will ensure its relevancy to ecommerce’s leading-edge development community.

Case studies

Competing with Loom.com isn’t easy. But Merton Way helped a smaller SaaS company offering asynchronous video to pivot and find a niche among new enterprise customers like Adobe, Mazda, and Liberty Mutual. The full-service engagement included a quantitative pricing study that pinpointed the packaging and costs of the client's "good, better, best" subscriptions. The agency also decreased marketing spend by $1.3 million...meaning, our agency is in the business of more efficient revenue production.

Visitors to 29 Palms are very different than those bound for Palm Springs. Both typically attract Californians. But their demographics could not be more different. Camo vs. cabanas. Beer vs. espresso martinis. 29 Palms needed to send a clear message of astonishing landscapes and an “old California” vibe.

Roasting in small batches, Gold Coffee sources from hand-selected farms and relies on the expertise of roast masters rather than automated equipment. Batch roasting gives Gold Coffee a distinct aromatic profile. The taste of each varietal is determined by the microclimate in which it is grown and the intensity of the roast. There's so many brands out there making claims. How do we share Gold's nuances with consumers?
